Many of my friends and clients know my passion for sending handwritten notes. The Art of the Handwritten Note was a pleasurable and inspirational book to read. Shepherd suggests to “write from a space of your own,” and that you assemble your materials in one place (stationery, postage stamps, pen, address list, scratch paper, etc.). Her “simple recipe” for writing notes includes five items:
Shepherd states, “Curiously enough, a hallmark of a real handwritten note is the envelope…you can send a clear message that your words are worth reading by putting the note into a hand-addressed envelope.”
The book includes many examples and prompts to get your creative juices flowing. It is a great reference tool if you find yourself stumped when you sit down to write.
