Florida Political Preview – The Media’s View of the 2015 Session

Hosted by Tucker|Hall and Florida TaxWatch

Florida Political Preview – The Media’s View of the 2015 Session was held February 25, 2015.

What a fun and informative session. The panel touched on many different topics. There was agreement on most

issues, but there were some differing opinions.

Topics discussed relating to the Florida Legislative Session:

  • Medicaid Expansion
  • Disruption in Transportation / Ride Sharing
  • Lodging
  • Hard Liquor in Grocery Stores
  • Prison Reform
  • Stadium Funding
  • Enterprise Zones
  • Tax Cuts
  • Public Service Commission
  • New Entities in the State with Large Team of Lobbyists

Panel Predictions for 2015:

  1. Because 2016 Session has been moved up to January, there will be a low number of Bills passed this session.
  2. Minor tweaks in Public Service Commission because there is no statewide groundswell.
  3. No Medicaid expansion this session.
  4. Enterprise Zones will pass.
  5. Putnam, Rubio and Atwater predicted to run for Governor

It is always fun to track predictions. Here’s hoping that our Legislators remember to do what is right and good for Florida and the people of Florida.

Wishing our Legislators a productive Legislative Session.

Until Sine Die 2015!!
